While we are all getting our houses and yards ready for spring, I thought it would be nice to remind everyone that their computers need some spring cleaning, as well.  First and foremost, we’ll start with the most literal spring cleaning concept.  Your computer gets more dust, dirt and debris in it than you want to know about.  This is very bad, and will cause your computer to overheat, break down, or make you not want to touch it.  So why not give your computer the love your house gets?

The Euro Technology World 2: Windows 8 Preview

Windows 8 first impressions

Take everything you know about Windows, and throw it out the window. As an end user, a typical consumer, or a casual user, your learning curve will be massive. If you are a bit tech savvy, you will get some logic out of the system where logic applies. However, even those are few and far between. When you set up a new machine with Windows 8 so far it is just like a 7 setup. However, once you login you are immediately taken to the new Metro layout which will remind you of the Xbox 360 dashboard. And it navigates similarly as well. It also reminds you a bit of a phone or tablet with lots of apps and widgets installed. You can navigate through your computer in a somewhat traditional "desktop", but your start button will immediately take you to the "metro station" as I like to call it.

To be... or not to be... for businesses

I can see now why Microsoft is offering support for Windows 7 Professional until 2020. I don't see this system catching on ...

The Euro Technology World : An Intro

Technology is moving faster than anyone realizes, whether it's computers, software, televisions with apps and the internet, cars, or wireless electricity we can't keep up anymore.  Being able to get this information out to everyone is a great part of this field, and can spark ideas and interest in many people. In the corporate world here, we have a lot of different software running, and hardware operating. Getting everyone on the same page? Well, that is impossible.

Perfection?

What would be ideal in any environment would be one type of computer, one type of operating system, and one type of printer. That's what is easy. What is realistic is that you will get a diverse range of hardware and software specifically for every purpose.  So that is where we are, various types of Apple computers, various Windows machines, desktops and laptops, multiple printers—both black and white and color—multiple servers, and a huge range of software.

Now, what do you do about that?

Easy, you work to make everything more and more compatible. Find ways where everyone can use ...
