Our Holiday Party

Long Live Print
It’s hard to work in advertising without hearing someone say “print is dead” at least once a week. I hear it from fellow marketers, bloggers/writers, friends and sometimes even family. Not to mention it’s plastered all over every digitally-focused advertising blog.
I, however, disagree.
By profession I’m a search/digital marketer—I’ve never worked on the print side of business, never been responsible for buying a list, looking at the demos associated with a magazine or newspaper. Heck, I don’t even really know the first step in setting up a DM drop. But I do know one thing—I read more print than I ever have before in my life.

Cyber Monday
Cyber Monday emails were in my inbox before Black Friday was even over. After being one of the midnight Black Friday shoppers, how could I possibly need to buy anything else on Cyber Monday? Easy. The Amazon and Best Buy deals got me. When I received the email promotion from Amazon saying the Kindle Touch was $99, I went ahead and checked off Mom’s Christmas gift from the list. With Best Buy offering on-line discounts on Blu-Ray DVDs and video games, I was able to check off my Brother and Father’s gifts as well.

According to Daily Tech, Cyber Monday shopping was up 33% from last year and the dollar amount spent was most likely well over $1 billion. ...
